Exchange/Surcharge returns
Certain products are supplied on an exchange basis and include a refundable surcharge. The surcharge is a refundable deposit against the return of your original unit ("old unit" or "core").
Manufacturers require old units to be returned so they can be professionally reconditioned and placed back into service. This helps maintain the availability of replacement parts while reducing waste.
The surcharge cannot be waived. If you do not return an acceptable old unit, the surcharge forms part of the total purchase price.
What Can Be Returned?
To qualify for a surcharge refund, the returned unit must:
Be the same type, model or an accepted equivalent to the replacement unit supplied.
Be complete, with all major components fitted.
Be identifiable by its original part number or identification markings where applicable.
Be suitable for professional reconditioning.
Be returned within the return period stated on the product listing.
Be fully drained of oil, fuel, coolant and any other fluids before shipment.
Normal wear and tear, internal mechanical failure, carbon deposits and contamination resulting from normal use do not automatically make a unit unacceptable.
General Reasons for Rejection
A surcharge return may be rejected if the unit is:
Incorrect or not the same type as the replacement supplied.
Incomplete or stripped for parts.
Dismantled or partially dismantled.
Missing major components.
Cracked, broken or otherwise structurally damaged.
Damaged through impact, accident, crushing or incorrect handling.
Deliberately modified or altered.
Excessively corroded beyond normal service wear.
Contaminated to the extent that it cannot be safely or economically reconditioned.
Otherwise unsuitable for professional reconditioning.
These examples are not exhaustive. Any condition that prevents the unit from being professionally reconditioned may result in the surcharge being declined.

Preparing Your Return
Before returning your old unit, please:
Drain all oil and other fluids.
Remove excessive dirt and contamination where possible.
Seal or cap all exposed openings to prevent leaks.
Reuse the packaging from the replacement unit where practical.
Pack the unit securely to prevent damage during transit.
Include any requested returns paperwork.
Please note that used vehicle components may contain hazardous substances. Appropriate care should be taken when handling them.
Return Shipping
The customer is responsible for the cost of returning surcharge units.
LR Centre can arrange collection using our courier accounts, which is often more economical than booking your own courier. Collection charges must be paid in advance.
Where possible, surcharge returns should be sent separately from warranty returns to avoid delays in processing.
Inspection & Refunds
All surcharge returns are inspected by the relevant manufacturer or supplier.
LR Centre is unable to approve or reject surcharge returns ourselves. Refunds are only issued once the returned unit has been inspected, accepted and credited by the manufacturer or supplier.
If a returned unit:
is not received within the required return period;
does not meet the acceptance criteria;
or is considered unsuitable for professional reconditioning;
the surcharge will not be refunded and will form part of the purchase price.
Unsure if Your Unit Will Be Accepted?
If you are uncertain whether your old unit is likely to qualify for a surcharge refund, please contact us before returning it.
Photographs of the complete unit, together with clear images of any damage, will often allow us to obtain guidance from the manufacturer or supplier before you incur return shipping costs.
